It’s been a long time since I’ve featured a style post, and am committing to STEPPING UP my style coverage this next year. And what a perfect time, as we enter my favorite season. That time of year, when the extra-heavy fall fashion mags begin appearing, yet we’re not mentally or meteorologically there. This, my friends, is when I start staging my jackets as a way to bridge that gap between summer and fall. And the jacket that gives me both the opportunity to extend my summer wardrobe and the most wardrobing options is THE MOTO JACKET. I feel it’s the best transitional piece for fall.

You’ll easily find them in leather, suede or “vegan leather”, and ranging from the basic black to every neutral shade. They start appearing in late August, and sometimes stay around until well into an upstate NY spring. And although I just love the neutral suedes, it’s my basic black that gets the most mileage because of its casual-to-dressy versatility.

This BlankNYC faux leather moto jacket, available at Lucia, has been one of my favorite transition pieces for years. Here are three different ways to wear it through fall and beyond!

ONE JACKET, SO MANY OPTIONS

LOOK ONE: WEAR THAT MIDI FOR MONTHS!

Layer your moto on top of your lightweight midi sundresses or skirts in a print or floral design.  Trade out those strappy sandals for a pair of booties or boots. Add a felt hat for an extra layer of cool.

LOOK TWO: STREET STYLE YOUR SWEATS!

Throw your moto jacket over your comfy “working from home” outfit. (Or dare I say, your PJs?) COZY joggers + graphic tee + super cool kicks = effortless. Or appearing so.

LOOK THREE: BLUE JEAN QUEEN!

Take those perfectly broken-in denim jeans and favorite white tank or tee. Swap out your open toe sandals with a sueded mule. Throw on the moto and take your denim to new heights!

MORE WAYS TO MOTO

As if I couldn’t love this jacket any more…it even has removable faux fur trim, giving you many more winter options!

Looking for a genuine leather alternative? This swoon-worthy option from Violet’s of Saratoga comes in black, brown and grey.

So get those jackets ready ladies… we’re heading into my very favorite style season… fall! And I’d be lying if I said that my moto wasn’t at least partially responsible for this seasonal love affair.
