Between the uncertainty, and eagerness to be done with covid, it’s easy to feel a little hopeless this winter. I’m chatting today with Tom Roohan of Roohan Realty, who’s going to share some positive thoughts about what we learned about our community in 2020, and why he’s excited for 2021.
OUR COMMUNITY TAKES CARE OF EACH OTHER. Considering all the challenges we had last year, our community came together better than anyone could have imagined. From the take-out meals we ordered or the gift cards that Saratoga Hospital and many others bought for friends and employees, we were always looking out for our local businesses. The programs offered to reimburse unforeseen losses and the assistance to businesses who needed help navigating these processes were so impressive. Everywhere you turned, someone was doing something to help someone.
IN THE FACE OF OBSTACLES, WE MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. We didn’t let the pandemic prevent us from moving forward with our City Center building structure, something that was in the works for quite a while. That’s the way we are here. We don’t wait… we make things happen.
WE ARE SEEING SIGNS OF A GREAT SUMMER 2021. Under David O’Rourke’s NYRA leadership, we’re confident that there will be something to look forward to, but we just don’t know what quite yet. People want to be here this summer and are already calling to secure their summer (track) rentals. I think it’s going to be much better than people anticipate.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO RECONNECTING. As things start changing, we’re going to begin to spend time with loved ones again. We’re going to start gathering again, even if it’s a table of four or six in a restaurant.
I JUST WANT TO THANK OUR COMMUNITY FOR BEING SO GENEROUS IN SO MANY WAYS THIS PAST YEAR. EVERYONE HAS WORKED TOGETHER. AND WE ALL DESERVE A BIG THANK YOU.
