This week, I sat with Wellman Loviza, Bar Manager at Salt & Char Restaurant at the Adelphi Hotel in Saratoga Springs, NY. Now that fall is here, I needed some warm drink ideas to keep us toasty at home. Wellman shared three different variations of a Hot Toddy… and each one tasted amazing!
THE TRADITIONAL TODDY
- 1-2 TB. honey
- 1/2 oz. lemon juice
- 1 1/2 oz Benchmark bourbon or any rye
- Top with hot assam tea
- Garnish with a lemon twist
THE TROPICAL TODDY
- 1 TB. honey
- 1/4 oz. lime juice
- 1 1/2 oz. dark rum (Goslings, here)
- 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
- Top with hot assam tea
- Garnish with an orange twist and cinnamon stick
THE APPLEJACK TODDY
- 1/2 oz. maple syrup
- 1/2 oz. lemon juice
- 1 1/2 oz. Applejack brandy
- Top with hot assam tea
- Garnish with an apple wheel (slices)
